Hello everyone! I wanted to take some time to introduce myself. I'm the photographer behind the lens of Alexa Martonen Photography. I'm also a mom (my favorite role), wife, daughter, friend, former teacher, and lover of deep meaningful connections. My photography business started as a hobby, taking pictures of the horses in my neighborhood with a camera I bought from Costco. During this time in my life I was going through depression, and picking up the camera and capturing meaningful imagines brought me joy. It soon developed into a passion, which turned into a mini business taking photos for family and friends. After gaining experience, I decided to venture out into the photography world and make a name for myself. Over the years my passion for photography and love of storytelling continued to grow. I strive to capture the true essence of each individual in every photo. I truly believe that everyone has a story. Messy, wonderful, complicated & beautiful. Every story deserves to be captured. It is always a privilege to tell  a story through my lens.

When I'm not taking pictures, I'm chasing after my two busy babies, Maylee (5) and Lowen (1). Being their mom brings me immense joy and meaning. I'm also a person whose known deep grief with the loss of my son, Levi. If you're a family with a story that doesn't fit the picture perfect mold, and you too have known grief and maybe you're hesitant to share it, I can promise you that your story is safe and honored with me. In honor of my son's life, my husband and I started the Love Like Levi page, which shares acts of kindness in his memory. With that being said, grief sessions such as capturing photos of terminally ill children and their families, or loss of an infant, are free. Please message me privately if this is something you need.

Other passions of mine include writing (hoping to write a memoir and a children's book), traveling, spending quality time with my family and friends, and having deep and meaningful conversations. 

While I'm primarily based in Billings, Montana, I do travel to Mesa Arizona a couple times a year and can accommodate clients in the area. My goal is to someday capture stories from all over the world (bringing my family along!)
